Red Sox Wives Rule!
The Red Sox players and their wives have a long history of serving the health, education, recreation, and social service needs of children and families in need across New England. Kathryn Nixon, Shonda Schilling and Dawn Timlin are wonderful examples of adult women who combine the goal and challenge of running road races with community outreach and helping others.
All three have completed the Boston Marathon (26.2 miles!) and raised money for important charities including the Dana-Farber Marathon Challenge, the Shade Foundation and the Angel Fund for ALS
These terrific gals have also supported many literacy organizations and projects which demonstrates their belief that reading, books and imagination are essential elements to a healthy and fit lifestyle.
We are honored that Shonda and Dawn have chosen to sponsor teams of girls in underserved communities in Boston through the Fit Girls Fitness Grant Program.
Shonda, Dawn and Kathryn did not WIN the Boston Marathon, but they are wonderful role models in having the courage and determination to put one foot in front of the other to make the world a more healthy, kind and safe place!
They represent what it means to be a REAL WINNER, regardless of pace!
